Winter Delight
I still get the same simple thrill out of glimpsing a tiny patch of snow.
But this year there wasn’t just a tiny patch of snow, this year’s winter was amazing. Mountains are still covered in snow and it is almost June. And not to mention that it started early. We were able to enjoy snow since October.
In December we moved to Soča valley to spend some time there and enjoy the snow. We hoped ski resorts will open, but unfortunately, Kanin stayed closed down so all I had from skiing was some short turns on a hill under our house and a tour ski trip to Station B on Kanin. But all the scenery was amazing. I think the last time I saw so much snow in the valley was when I was spending the winter holidays there with my parents as a kid.
After coming to the reality on the other side of the mountains another Covid-19 lockdown happened. And I must admit, moving to Škofja Loka 3 years ago was our lifesaver for these strange times. Living just 20 km out of Ljubljana meant a whole new world. We were able to spend time on snow in the mountains. Even some tour skiing happened on Stari vrh, which is just 10 minutes driving from our home.
And I also managed to catch some amazing sunsets and sunrises just a step away from our home.
